Building on its expertise in manufacturing Torayca® carbon fibers, Toray Carbon Fibers Europe developed a production line exclusively for carbon fiber rods in the early 2000s. Our carbon fiber rods are produced on highly automated pultrusion lines that work continuously. Our carbon rods are used in various applications:
Toray Carbon Fibers Europe’s rods are made from: High Strength (T700), Intermediate Modulus (T800) or High Modulus Torayca® Carbon Fibers. Toray Carbon Fibers Europe’s rods are available in a variety of diameters, ranging from 0.5 mm to 20 mm.
No matter the end-user’s application, the advantages of our Torayca® carbon fiber rods are multiple:
Toray Carbon Fibers Europe has developed a wide range of resins that are perfectly compatible with the pultrusion process: epoxy, polyester, vinylester, polyurethane. These resins are developed to meet specific requirements such as appearance, colour, impact resistance, fire resistance, temperature resistance, and biocompatibility.
Type of resins | Main Characteristics |
Standard Epoxy | TG 110 °C, good cost/performance ratio |
High-temperature Epoxy | TG 250 °C, high thermal-oxidation resistance |
Vinylester | Corrosion and alkaline environment resistance |
Polyurethane | Impact resistance |
FST Retardant Epoxy | Fire, smoke and toxicity resistance |
Phenolic | Fire resistance |
To facilitate the adhesion of our rods, two surface treatments are available:
S-type Rods: The “S” surface treatment is ideal for bonding organic resins (epoxy, polyurethane).
RS-type Rods: The “RS” surface treatment is designed to be compatible with mortars or hydraulic binders. The dynamic surface condition of the rods offers optimum compatibility and anchorage.
Carbon fiber rods are available: coiled in continuous form (up to 10 km in length) or in a customised length (upon request). Torayca® carbon fiber rods can be coiled or bent (under no strain) without being damaged (up to 110 times their diameter).
Most of our carbon rods are available to order from stock. For all enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact our Sales and Technical teams.
